Thursday 14/02/2019 Weekly blog update

This week some time was spent on developing my new idea for monitoring the piston position. As mentioned last week I needed a better solution that would allow for greater resolution from my sensor. This new idea involves using 2mm pitch GT2 profile gears. I followed convention for this because I needed to use the corresponding timing belt. The only problem I had with this was  that I required a 17mm Outside diameter pulley dimension. Luckily the closes size of 16.68mm was ideal
and required 27 grooves. Based on my calculations I have worked out that with a piston displacement of 54mm, my sensor will rotate nearly 1 full revolution.
